Where to find the Best Shipping Crates in Massachusetts

September 11, 2019 by admin

When you’re shipping large items – which may or may not be fragile – you will need a shipping crate that’s built in accordance with freight carrier regulations as well as any relevant laws in your shipment’s destination. For best results, you’ll want to work with a Boston shipping company that offers custom crating services.

Custom crating involves shipping crates built to order. The reason you want a custom crate is that shipping crates should be sized to offer the appropriate amount of protection for your items while simultaneously keeping the cost of shipping as low as possible. When shipping crates are too large, it’s easy for items to shift inside of them and get damaged. Shipping crates that are too large also cost more than they should to ship.

Be aware that international regulations require that shipping crates be built out of treated wood. This prevents the spread of insects and diseases from one country to another. International authorities aren’t kidding about this regulation. If your crate doesn’t meet standards, it will be rejected – and that doesn’t mean it’s automatically returned to you. Rejected shipments are often delayed and sometimes lost – which could be inconvenient and expensive.

Shipping crates also need to be built to meet the needs of the people who are receiving your shipment. For example, it’s not unusual for business owners to need shipping crates built with pallet-style bases. A pallet-style base allows a crate to be moved with a forklift or pallet-jack. This is useful for loading crates onto and off of trucks, as well as in the warehouse and distribution center setting.

Timelines and budgets also matter when choosing custom crating services. If you need a large number of shipping crates fairly rapidly, you’ll want to work with a Boston shipping company prepared to meet your needs. Additionally, while you never want to go with the lowest bidder, you will want to be sure you’re getting good value for your money when you purchase custom shipping crates.

"In August, my 83-year-old father fell down the cellar stairs and broke his elbow. Following elbow replacement surgery in Boston he was transferred to skilled nursing care in West Bridgewater. Unfortunately, the injury left him unable to maintain his own household. My husband and I made the decision to move him to our home in California. My time frame was incredibly short - 11 days till departure via airplane to CA. I needed to pack and ship whatever items would be going to CA. We would not be moving the entire household - just several paintings, memorabilia, clothing and a large full keyboard electronic piano. After calling several moving companies that required large weight minimums to bid the job, I was referred to Joe Fell at Boston Pack and Ship.

Joe was absolutely wonderful. He calmly explained the shipping options available through Boston Pack and Ship and they could definitely handle the job. Joe helped me locate appropriately sized shipping boxes so that I could pack things up myself, thereby saving money. He also stayed in constant contact with me via phone and email, coaching me through the shipping process. We scheduled pickup nine days after my arrival in MA. Joe became an instant friend to me throughout this extremely stressful time. His caring nature made this difficult move a great deal easier. I am very grateful to have found this wonderful company. "

I used Boston Pack and Ship to send an antique piece of furniture from Boston to Sedona, AZ. I can't say enough about their service and the quality of the packing. Item arrived on the day they said it would and was in pristine condition. Easy to work with and great customer service. Highly recommend.

I hired Boston Pack and Ship to move two items from my storage unit in the Boston area to my home in Florida. Gene Sullivan was 110% responsive. He picked up the items on time, packed them expertly; and they arrived in perfect condition about ten days after pick up. I could not ask for better service. Five stars is not enough!

We at Casey Movers do not hesitate to refer our customers to this business for shipments we do not think we are best suited for (smaller inter-state shipments under 3,000lbs, etc). Have had great feedback from clients that have utilized this service. Thank you from all at Casey Movers for providing top notch service and have a great new year!
