3 Things You Should Know About International Shipping During the Holiday Season

November 14, 2021 by admin

So head’s up: if you haven’t gotten your Thanksgiving turkey yet, you should probably think about doing that very soon. Other items that should be on your holiday to-do list, if you want to keep distant family and friends feeling special: make sure to get those international packages shipped right away. Here are 3 things you should know about international shipping during this holiday season:

  1. It’s Not Too Soon To Start Sending Your Holiday Packages

Unprecedented demand for shipping services has been happening throughout 2020 and much of 2021. This is due to the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic, as well as supply chain issues. There are other issues that have also been causing mail deliveries to be slowed down. With this in mind, it’s a good idea to get your holiday packages that are going to Europe, South America, or other international destinations sent sooner rather than later.

(Yes, this is also true for packages going to APO/FPO addresses! Ask your local international shipping company for assistance.)

#2: Prepare All International Packages for a Rough Ride

International packages travel on planes, ships, trains, trucks, and other vehicles as they journey from you to your recipient. While of course everyone tries to be careful, packages do occasionally get dropped, knocked, or have heavy boxes stacked on top of them. When packing your presents for international shipping, make sure to use strong, new cardboard shipping boxes. Double boxing your packages is also a very good idea. Make sure to use the appropriate amount and type of packaging materials. While it’s always a temptation to use as small a box as possible to keep costs down when shipping packages internationally, it’s sensible to double box.

#3: If You’re Overwhelmed & Want To Save $ On International Shipping, Help Is Available

If you have holiday packages to send overseas and you want to be sure they get there safely and on time without spending a fortune, help is available. Your local international shipping company specializes in this service and is waiting to help you.

"Boston Pack and Ship shipped my mother’s cedar “hope” chest to my sister in Flagstaff, Arizona. The chest is 70 years old and a priceless family heirloom. As for Boston Pack and Ship’s handling of the chest, in the words of my sister, the job turned out ‘magnificently’. The delivery was ahead of projected schedule and the chest was packed with great care with exceptional “product safety” initiatives of Styrofoam, plastic, false bottoms cartons within the crate and above the crate; the legs of the chest were taped with great care…….truly product protection at its best!! Both my sister and I would refer Boston Pack and Ship without hesitation as the price, product safety, delivery and service are exceptional."

I used Boston Pack and Ship to pick up, pack, and ship an Italian lounge chair from Boston to San Francisco. Excellent communication all along the way. They did an outstanding job packing the chair, it arrived in perfect condition. Couldn't be happier with the support from Gene and the team.

I hired Boston Pack and Ship to move two items from my storage unit in the Boston area to my home in Florida. Gene Sullivan was 110% responsive. He picked up the items on time, packed them expertly; and they arrived in perfect condition about ten days after pick up. I could not ask for better service. Five stars is not enough!
