“My granddaughter wanted a hoverboard because she’s eleven, of course she does,” Shari said, with a laugh. “But she’s in California, and I’m here in Boston, and you just can’t ship those things. All of the airlines have said no way, so even if I do wind up flying out there for Christmas, I can’t bring it with me – and the Post Office says now, hoverboards can’t fly.” She shrugged. “At some point, it’s too much of a hassle. The holidays are supposed to be fun. So I called my son and said, “What else would she like to have?” and that’s how we came to the laptop.”
Compared to shipping a hoverboard, Shari found that shipping a laptop in Boston was a snap. “I just went down to the shop with the laptop in my hands. I mean, it was in the box it came in from the store, but I didn’t pack it or anything. Those guys took care of everything. They had the shipping boxes, and more packing materials than I ever knew existed. Peanuts? Forget peanuts…that’s yesterday’s news. Today they’ve got high tech stuff, really neat foam-in-place cushioning that’s ideal for shipping electronic items like laptops, cell phones, video games – all that tech that kids love.”
“I like the fact that I don’t have to do anything,” Shari said. “Let the experts do the hard work, that’s what I always say. I also like the fact that everything’s trackable and insured; I don’t have to worry about whether the package is going to get there, or if something happens to it along the way – no matter what, I’m covered. And for me, that peace of mind is so worth it.”
