“Maybe I will miss the snow and ice,” Gwendolyn said. “Who knows? We’re going to be in that gorgeous California sunshine. It’ll make up for it.” The eighty-three year old Boston native is moving, along with her companion of many years, Stanley. “The only issue is we have so much stuff. Some of it’s going to my kids, some of it’s going to Stanley’s children and grandchildren. There are some things we’re sending to my alma mater. And there’s a painting that needs to go to my sister in Detroit.”

Stanley, a man of few words, did mention that he really enjoyed being able to check the tracking information from his phone. “It made me happy to know my books had gotten to my granddaughter,” he said. “She’s a mystery buff just like me, and there are some really good ones in there.”
