“After 45 years in Quincy, I’m finally pulling up stakes and moving to North Carolina,” Lucy said. “I am going to spend my retirement where it’s warm and sunny.” Lucy has two children. “My son Glen lives in Spokane, and my daughter is just outside of Dallas.” Downsizing for the move means finding new homes for some treasured family furniture.
“I asked both of the kids, and they each wanted specific items. Glen wants the sideboard from the front hall, as well as his Father’s nightstand and the green chair from the living room. Renee is taking the dining room table and chairs.” Lucy laughed. “The only issue is how am I going to get these things to them. I’ve driven to Texas before, and it was a long and difficult journey. I am not eager to do that again – especially with a truck.”
Quincy MA Pack and Ship Services: The Smart Alternative
“I had moved all the furniture into the garage, thinking I was going to rent a U-Haul and do this myself.” Lucy said. “But then I actually got on the phone and found out how much this truck rental was going to cost. Did you know you pay by the mile? It’s a very long way to Dallas – and a much further way to Spokane. I was going to be spending a fortune, and that’s before considering the cost of gas, hotel rooms along the way, and everything else that goes into a long journey.”
Seeking an alternative, Lucy called the Quincy MA pack and ship service. “I told them what was going on, and they said they could definitely help me out.” Lucy’s quote included having members from the pack and ship service actually come to her house, crate up the furniture, and deliver the items to her children. “By the time I did the numbers, I was spending less money. It was a lot less stressful – they could even deliver the furniture to Glen on the weekend, when he knew he’d be home – and honestly, a lot less physically demanding for me.”
“If you have large furniture to transport cross country, I strongly recommend letting the pros handle it,” Lucy concluded. “Work smarter, not harder!”
