Moving With a New Baby

August 12, 2016 by admin

Welcoming a child into your life is a wonderful event. It does however come with its share of sleepless nights, very busy schedules, and the ups and downs that come with having a new baby. Add that to the stresses and tensions that are part of moving a household and it can seem like too much to bear. Here are some tips from your Boston moving company that will make things easier:

1) Keep Essential Baby Stuff With Your Baby – Including Back Ups!

Anything that’s essential to the health and happiness of your child needs to stay with your child during the move. That means diapers, a few outfits, bottles, formula, pacifiers, wipes, and anything else that your baby needs should be packed in a bag you have access to at all times. Don’t put this stuff in a box for the movers, as that can seriously delay you getting to it when you need it. This includes back ups of any comfort items your baby may use, such as a security blanket or pacifier.

2) Don’t Try To Be SuperMom or SuperDad

The mad rush of endorphins that come after delivering a child make us think we can do anything. That being said, you’ve just been through a tumultuous event, physically and emotionally. Recruit helpers to assist you with your move – especially the really physical aspects like packing boxes, moving furniture, and loading and unloading the moving truck. You can hire Boston movers to assist with some or all of the move. Let them do the heavy lifting and let your body recover from having a baby!

3) Set Up the Baby’s Room First

When you’re at your new address, have your Boston movers set up the baby’s room first. Having the crib, changing table, and other nursery furniture in place makes transitioning into your new home so much easier. Take advantage of naptime to unpack the rest of your belongings and enjoy getting settled into your new place!

"I'm in the military and I took an assignment in Texas to be closer to family in a town outside of Houston. That meant getting about 17 boxes of stuff—ranging from household goods to clothing—from my home in Marston Mills, Massachusetts to Missouri City, Texas. Working with Boston Pack and Ship was a pleasure. They were very helpful and answered all my questions. On the day of pickup, they were in and out within 15 minutes. I had regular updates from Bill Yankee and his staff. In fact, my stuff arrived a day early! Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I didn't have to worry about a thing."
