Packing and Shipping a Boston Estate: The Challenges

November 3, 2010 by admin

"I knew that when my great-aunt Chloe died, it was going to be on me to clean up her estate and ship certain items to relatives and friends. We'd talked about it many times, and Chloe had gone over all of her wishes with me. What I didn't know," Boston native Sheila S. said, "was what a big and complicated job shipping an estate can be!" Chloe had left some nice things to her family, who … [Read more...]

The most critical factor in ensuring that the items you want to ship arrive safely at their destination is packaging. Simply throwing your stuff in a box, tossing a handful of Styrofoam peanuts and some newspaper you happen to have lying around is a recipe for disaster -- especially if you're shipping valuable antiques, computers, artwork, or technology. Custom Packaging Solutions There's a best … [Read more...]

There are lots of things to love about Boston -- the people, the culture, the Red Sox and Patriots -- but there's one thing that can make life a little challenging.  Yes, we're talking about that infamous Boston traffic.  Factor in the maze of narrow one-way streets, roundabouts, and drivers who are paying more attention to their Blackberry than the road and you can see why moving in Boston is … [Read more...]

Shipping Fine Art and Antiques

September 30, 2010 by admin

Fine art and antiques are among our most treasured possessions. The furniture that has served our families for generations, lovingly cared for year after year, passed on from mother to daughter, father to son; the objects we’ve discovered on long drives through the Massachusetts countryside, poking into tiny little shops; paintings that move us, sculptures that express emotion in three dimensions … [Read more...]

Should You Build Your Own Shipping Crates?

September 9, 2010 by admin

A box is a box is a box, right? You've got a top and a bottom, four sides and room inside for your stuff. There's nothing complicated about a box -- and a shipping crate is just a big box, right? Well, actually, wrong.  Completely and totally wrong.  That's why we were recently dismayed by this Washington Post article in which it's suggested that a mover could construct their own shipping … [Read more...]

"I'm in the military and I took an assignment in Texas to be closer to family in a town outside of Houston. That meant getting about 17 boxes of stuff—ranging from household goods to clothing—from my home in Marston Mills, Massachusetts to Missouri City, Texas. Working with Boston Pack and Ship was a pleasure. They were very helpful and answered all my questions. On the day of pickup, they were in and out within 15 minutes. I had regular updates from Bill Yankee and his staff. In fact, my stuff arrived a day early! Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I didn't have to worry about a thing."

I used Boston Pack and Ship to send an antique piece of furniture from Boston to Sedona, AZ. I can't say enough about their service and the quality of the packing. Item arrived on the day they said it would and was in pristine condition. Easy to work with and great customer service. Highly recommend.

I hired Boston Pack and Ship to move two items from my storage unit in the Boston area to my home in Florida. Gene Sullivan was 110% responsive. He picked up the items on time, packed them expertly; and they arrived in perfect condition about ten days after pick up. I could not ask for better service. Five stars is not enough!
